Social Cognitive Theory is based on the concept of reciprocal determinism, that is, the dynamic interplay among personal factors, the environment, and behavior. The way in which people interpret their environment, and their personal factors, affect their behavior, their behavior affects their personal factors, which can affect their environment, and so on. The point being that changing one of these three factors, changes all of them, and therefore changes behavior.
